In March this year me, my Mum, Dad, Husband, Brother and his girlfriend all went to Venice, Italy for 4 nights to celebrate my Dad’s 50th birthday (which you would already know if you follow me on Instagram) and I thought that I would share with you all what we got up to.
We stayed in a very oldy-woldy little hotel called La Forcola and it was so sweet. All of the furniture was dark mahogany and creaky, it gave off a really authentic old-style Italian feel, and the location was amazing, leading right out onto a bridge crossing a stream and leading to a square with old buildings and shops of allsorts. I would highly recommend if you’re not looking for a modern, all signing all dancing hotel.
All in all, it was pretty much a ‘how much pasta, pizza and ice cream can you eat until you physically can’t move anymore’ kind of trip, and if you ask me, they’re the best kind. The food was TO DIE FOR. Seriously, I don’t think I have ever eaten so much in the space of 5 day’s in all my life, and it was worth every calorie!
Between meals, we poodled around the quaint little alleyways to discover traditional Italian boutiques, we went to St Mark’s Square and took in some extraordinary views on a gondola ride (like the Bridge of Sighs), we sat at canal-side bars taking in the sunshine while sipping on a Diet Coke and one evening we took a trip to the Rialto Bridge. It was truly heavenly.
If you have been to Venice, I would love to hear your take on it. Or if you have any places to suggest that I go in the future, I would love to hear from you.
Love, Charlotte xo
